about-ekklesia

Ekklesia-EWA originated in Bengaluru in 2019 at a gathering of women from different walks of life who longed for a change in the system that functions in favor of the dominant and the powerful. The system, may it be, familial, societal corporate, or religious, strongly favors power and capital in India, and is strongly cemented on caste and gender-sexuality biases. Only by nurturing ethical values of love, justice, and equity, the goals of educating, assisting, and empowering communities and individuals toward holistic development be achieved.

Ekklesia-EWA was formerly known as 'EKKLESIA Centre for Biblical Research and Pastoral Accompaniment'. It was founded to provide a platform to ensure our commitment to justice, peace, and equity. The name EWA was hyphenated to Ekklesia at the fifth anniversary of Ekklesia in 2024 to specifically contribute to the emotional wellness of women and children at risk, People with diverse (SOGIESC), and people with emotional and psycho-social disabilities.

Ekklesia-EWA continues the legacy of enabling equity awareness and capacity-building programs for Women and Children at risk; enhancing the upliftment of marginalized gender-sexual minorities and enriching a support system for Emotionally and psycho-socially disabled people
